Nutrition:

Nutrition is the process of providing body essential nutrients for fulfilling caloric requirements of healthy body so it works well and helps you fight back diseases and injuries.


Nutrients:

Nutrients are basically compounds and foods essentials required but are not produced by our body itself and have to be provided by external sources.

Classification of nutrients

Nutrients are be classified as:

1.       Macro-nutrients

2.       Micro-nutrients


Macro-nutrients:

Macro-nutrients are those that our body requires in large amount and these make most part of our meals. Macronutrients are further classified as:

·         Carbohydrates

·         Proteins

·         Fats


Sources of Macro nutrients:

Carbohydrates: Bread, Rice, Oats, vegetables, Milk, yogurt, fruits, honey.

Protein: Meat, fish, eggs, dairy products (For more details about protein diet check)

Fats: Meat, butter, oils etc.

Recommended amount:

Carbohydrates should be 50-60% of our daily routine, protein amount varies from 0.36 – 0.91 depending you are looking for normal consumption are in taking for building muscle mass and fats should be about 20 to 35%


Micro-nutrients:

Micro-nutrients are those nutrients which are required by our body in small amounts.

Micro-nutrients are classified as:

·         Water soluble

·         Fat soluble

·         Minerals

·         Water

Sources of micro-nutrients:

Water soluble nutrients: These nutrients include vitamin B, C and folic acid

Fat soluble nutrients: Vitamin A, E,D,K

Minerals: Calcium, potassium, sodium, iron, zinc

Recommended amounts:
